THE CHARACTERS

"COKIN"
THE OLD MAN

The outfit change idea was introduced very late in pre-production.
Inspired by the typical dance costume worn by male Cumbia dancers, the change in outfit and color adds a visual aspect to the character when he is under the influence of the butterfly.
THE BUTTERFLY

The yellow butterfly is from Cien Años De Soledad by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, a Colombian Nobel prize-winning author known for his work in the genre of Magical Realism.
Since then yellow butterflies have been a symbol of love, hope, and peace in Colombia.

The design of the butterfly was inspired by both butterflies native to Colombia and the traditional bags known as "mochilas" made by the indigenous Wayu tribe.
